Preparation

  1. Make the Yangnyeom Sauce (Korean Sweet Chili Glaze)

    • Combine gochujang, Knorr Chicken Powder, Knorr Teriyaki Sauce, water, and sugar in a pot. Bring to a boil.
    • Add cornstarch slurry and simmer until thick.
    • Set yangnyeom sauce aside until ready to use.
  2. Cook the Yangnyeom Chicken

    • Toss chicken with Knorr Chicken Powder and pepper. Marinate for at least 1 hour or overnight.
    • Add egg and mix well.
    • Add potato starch and baking powder. Mix to form a thin batter.
    • Heat oil in a deep-fryer to 140ºC. Cook chicken for 10 minutes or until cooked through.
    • Let fried chicken cool.
    • Increase deep-fryer temperature to 190ºC. Cook chicken again for 2 to 3 minutes or until golden brown.
Optionally, after the first fry, you can chill the chicken in the refrigerator overnight. Just bring it back to room temperature before the second fry.
  3. Assemble and Serve the Yangnyeom Chicken

    • Toss chicken in prepared yangnyeom sauce. Transfer to a serving plate.
    • Garnish yangnyeom chicken with spring onions and sesame seeds. Serve immediately.
